The Surgery Coordinator serves as a specialist within the Insurance Authorizations department, coordinating the entire lifecycle of patients being seen for complex surgical procedures such as SCS trials and implants, Vertiflex implants, SI Joint Fusions, NALU/Sprint Peripheral Nerve Stimulators, Intracepts, VIA DISCs, etc. The ideal candidate will also have strong sales skills for cross-training on our call campaigns, as well as strong customer service skills to promote positive patient interactions.
Responsibilities- Pull EMR reports and input data into excel sheets, tracking individuals where a complex procedure has been ordered by a physician
- Communicating patient financial responsibilities for procedures
- Answering basic patient inquiries related to procedures
- Coordinate psych evals for patients where physicians have ordered a complex surgical procedure, upload psych eval results to EMR
- Add patients to surgery schedule within EMR (eClinical
Works) - Communicate with all relevant team members / stakeholders about approved and scheduled procedures, including notating status updates within EMR and excel tracking sheets
- Coordinate process if patients need any replacement equipment for stimulators
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to HIPAA
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Strong interpersonal skills when working with patients
- Strong written communication skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD.
10 coding, and medical pre-certification and prior authorization protocols
- Experience using eClinical Works required
- Minimum 1-year healthcare experience required, experience in Pain Management preferred
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- In-person position in our Lawrenceville administrative building.
- Individuals that speak Spanish, Korean, or Vietnamese as a second language preferred
