Overview
The Outreach Program Leader is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff's Office Community Outreach Program. This position instructs inmates on the fundamentals of community outreach services and inmate assistance programs, ensuring participants understand available resources and opportunities. The coordinator plans and schedules meetings between community partners and inmates to facilitate access to support services, while also assisting citizens with questions and concerns related to these programs.
Additionally, the position maintains accurate records and documentation of program activities and operations, including class registrations, attendance, and facility usage, to ensure effective program management and accountability.
- Understand activity and programming principles and practices.
- Apply customer service principles in daily interactions with inmates, partners, and the public.
- Utilize basic marketing principles to promote programs and services.
- Apply basic instructional principles when leading classes or workshops.
- Deliver public presentations and community outreach sessions.
- Plan and organize activities and events.
- Evaluate program operations.
- Operate computers and related software applications efficiently.
- Communicate and interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors, community partners, and the public to exchange information and receive directions.
- Deliver instructions and guidance to coworkers, supervisors, the general public, and others.
Job Requirements /Information
- A public safety background which may include motor vehicle and criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
- High school diploma or GED, AND
- Two years of administrative or customer service experience, including coordinating meetings, answering phones, directing inquiries and building relationships; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience leading community outreach and public engagement initiatives.
