Mechanical Project Manager – Infrastructure | Industrial Mechanical Contracting | Piping | Plant Systems
A mechanical contractor supporting major industrial and infrastructure programs is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee complex mechanical installations across heavy commercial and industrial facilities. The role centers on field-driven project delivery involving process piping, utility systems, mechanical equipment setting, and large-scale plant infrastructure supporting power, water, manufacturing, and similar critical operations.
This position manages mechanical construction from preconstruction through turnover, coordinating fabrication, field installation, and commissioning activities. Projects often occur within active facilities where maintaining operational continuity, safety, and schedule discipline is essential.
Qualifications Needed- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive responsibility managing industrial mechanical or piping projects, including plant retrofits, infrastructure upgrades, or new facility construction
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor managing field installation, piping crews, fabrication activities, and subcontractors
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, equipment layouts, and mechanical specifications
- Experience coordinating multiple active job sites and field teams
- Proficiency with project management platforms such as Procore, MS Project, or similar systems
- PMP certification or comparable construction or field management credentials preferred
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred; equivalent field experience strongly considered
- Manage mechanical project execution from estimating and planning through construction and final turnover
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, shop fabrication, and equipment deliveries
- Oversee installation of process piping, utility piping, mechanical equipment, and plant support systems
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, schedules, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, ASME standards, and applicable local codes
- Work closely with plant personnel, field supervision, and engineering teams to maintain project schedules and operational requirements
- Support equipment setting, mechanical completion, testing, and startup coordination within active industrial environments
This position is suited for project managers experienced in mechanical contracting who are comfortable leading infrastructure and plant construction work involving complex piping systems, equipment installation, and large-scale mechanical construction programs.
