Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting (50%)
  • Continuous Process Improvement:
    Lead and drive a continuous process improvement solution that analyzes and resolves production issues.
  • FPY Analysis:
    Daily monitoring and analysis of First Pass Yield (FPY) data to identify trends, outliers, and recurring failures.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
    Lead investigations into production failures using standard methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone). Perform quality deep dives on electrical assemblies down to the component or PCBA level to identify effects and root causes for both electrical and mechanical assembly issues.
  • Corrective Actions:
    Implementing robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate repeat defects.
  • Defect Reduction:
    Collaborate with the design team to feedback manufacturing data, reducing "No Trouble Found" (NTF) rates and improving test coverage and customer experience.
  • Non-Conformance Management:
    Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for incoming electrical components and internal line failures.
  • Manufacturing & Process Engineering (50%)
  • Process Design:
    Help develop and maintain efficient manufacturing processes for electrical assemblies, wiring harnesses, and electromechanical integrations.
  • Work Instructions:
    Assist in the creation and updating of detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and visual work instructions for assembly and test stations.
  • Test Equipment:
    Create and maintain end-of-line electrical testers and fixtures. Assist in the commissioning of new test equipment.
  • NPI Support:
    Participate in the stage gate development process with R&D during New Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT).
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste, balance line flow, and improve operator efficiency.
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Identify and develop processes for preventative maintenance to reduce down time and defect rates.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE), Electronics Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering with significant electrical experience.
  • Experience:

    3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving electronics or electromechanical products.
  • Electrical Proficiency:
    • Knowledge of operating, calibrating, and maintaining SMT and THT assembly equipment including solder paste, pick-and-place, reflow, and wave solder equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
    • Hands-on experience with electrical diagnostic tools (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Power Analyzers, High Current Test Equipment).
    • Understanding of basic analog/digital circuits.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing, and design for assembly analysis.
  • Quality Toolkit:
    Experience with quality metrics (FPY, PPM) and problem-solving tools (Pareto analysis, Ishikawa diagrams).
  • Data Analysis:
    Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, charts) for FPY analysis; experience with Minitab or similar statistical software is a plus.
  • Work Style:
    Self-driven with good organizational and communication skills and a willingness to learn and work cross-functionally.
Requirements
  • Preferred Skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or Total Quality Management certification
  • Experience with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
  • Familiarity with PLCs and automated test equipment.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 or regulated manufacturing environment.
Success Metrics
  • Improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY) percentage quarter-over-quarter.
  • Reduction in manufacturing cycle time for electrical testing.
  • Meet defined production yield and rate targets.
