Job SummaryReporting to the Assistant Director for Customer Service, the Financial Aid Advocate advises students on eligibility and award of federal, state, local, private, and institutional aid. The role stays informed of current policies and collaborates with Enrollment Management Services Division to deliver first‑class customer service. Weekend and evening responsibilities are required.
Responsibilities- Provides face‑to‑face and external financial aid counseling to students and parents.
- Accepts and reviews documents submitted.
- Responds to call center tickets, office emails, and office visits from students and families.
- Assists students in researching additional funding and recommends emergency funding to the Scholarship Manager.
- Researches and interprets student financial aid program guidelines to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Participates in outreach programs and initiatives on and off campus, conducts financial aid presentations.
- Participates in national, regional, and state conferences related to student financial aid programs and communicates information to other GGC departments.
- Serves on campus committees to increase exposure of the Office of Financial Aid Services.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 4‑Year Bachelor's Degree
- One year of relevant experience
- Financial aid experience in higher education; knowledge of Title IV and state funding regulations.
- Knowledge of Banner, NSLDS, and CPS.
- NASFAA credentials preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Commitment to collaborative planning and teamwork.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective communication of complex ideas.
- Effective task and time management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
