About the ProgramThe Information Technology Programming Boot Camp is a hands‑on, immersive learning experience that equips students with foundational and intermediate programming skills. As a Student Assistant – Teaching Assistant, you will support the program’s operations, enhance participant engagement, and contribute to program evaluation.
Responsibilities- Facilitate participant engagement in Java programming activities to elevate technical proficiency.
- Lead information‑sharing and peer‑mentoring sessions to guide participants in navigating the IT major/minor at GGC and effectively utilizing campus resources.
- Provide clerical support at the registration desk and assist in collecting evaluation forms for participant feedback.
- Accompany participants on field trips, social activities, and data‑entry tasks under faculty supervision.
- Conduct data cleaning, entry, and analysis to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the program’s success.
- Must be enrolled as an Information Technology major.
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College.
- Students must be available during designated Boot Camp sessions.
- Maximum commitment of 24 hours per week.
- Must maintain good academic standing throughout employment.
- Must have achieved a minimum grade of B in Programming Fundamentals (ITEC 2140) and Intermediate Programming (ITEC 2150).
- Actively pursuing a degree in a technology‑ or science‑related discipline.
- Previous tutoring or mentoring experience, preferably in a programming or technology‑related field.
- Applicants with advanced programming coursework or equivalent experience, including at least a B grade in Advanced Programming (ITEC 3150), may work with higher‑level boot camp participants.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills and strong communication, interpersonal, and technical skills.
