This job is a part time, non-benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Health Sciences Division that reports to the Program Director of Allied Health Sciences.

Salary :
Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours taught.

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10317)
Associate's degree in clinical health-related discipline AND minimum two years clinical-related work experience with direct patient contact. Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum qualifications, Master’s degree in health-related field preferred. Current certification and/or licenses in a clinical specialty. Five years clinical experience with direct patient contact. Postsecondary teaching experience. Experience using Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS). Competent use of technology in an educational setting.

Job Description Summary

Prepares and delivers lecture and/or lab course material. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for general core courses. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Ensures students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.

Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.

If offered a position, employees in this department must complete the Hazardous Materials Training as well as the Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogen training annually.

Duties/Responsibilities

TEACHING:
Delivers educational Instruction to diverse student population.

  • Delivers effective individualized programs of instruction to class participants.
  • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
  • Effectively utilizes technology and audiovisual equipment in presentation of educational material.
  • Engages students in classroom discussion to promote cross-fertilization of knowledge.
  • Brings real-world examples from clinical experiences into any discussion.
  • Maintains an ideal learning environment for all students to feel safe and valued.

Updates course syllabi each semester to assure compliance with current course g oals and objectives.

  • Adapt course lesson plan to reflect current course specific requirements and due dates.
  • Updates Blackboard course shell to assure accuracy and congruence with syllabi and lesson plan.
  • Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials.

ADMINISTRATIVE (course administration):
Implements lesson plans for classroom instruction for specified courses.

  • Post weekly and other announcements to keep students engaged and informed.
  • Responds to students needs or requests in a timely manner; usually with 24 hours.
  • Maintains weekly office hours as required.
  • Correctly assesses the educational needs and class progress of e ach student.
  • Maintains accurate records of student participation and progress (task completion and grades).
  • Post student progress (grades) in a timely manner utilizing Blackboard gradebook.
  • Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.

10%

Meets program course outlines, goals and objectives.

  • Follows designated and approved lesson plan(s) using appropriate techniques and aids.
  • Updates course lesson plan to reflect time and special requirements for a given class.
  • Adapts curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve objectives and goals of ever-changing course specific student population.

Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes established criteria and evaluation tools in order to measure each student's progress.
  • Communicates students' progress to student and appropriate personnel according to established guidelines and timelines.
