This job is a full-time, benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Education/Science Division at the Lawrenceville campus that reports to the Division Chair, Math and Science.

Salary - $64,480/yr

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10213): Doctorate or Master’s degree in Biology or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Biology. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Instructor/Teaching Certificate. Experience in teaching college-level Biology courses (especially Anatomy and Physiology I and II) in two-year colleges or degree-granting technical colleges. Two years prior work experience in the field. Experience in course and curriculum development, demonstrated flexibility with diverse student populations and learning styles; demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community.

Ability to teach in the classroom. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs. Some experience with online instruction is a plus.

Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Biology courses at Gwinnett Technical College. Develops program and syllabi, goals, and objectives. Teaches face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed to provide course delivery and scheduling options that promote student retention and program completion. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests.

Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

  • Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.

  • Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.
  • Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals, and progress schedule.
