Nurse Technician - Inpatient Rehab (PRN) Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nurse Technician performs basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient patient care and patient throughput. This role assists with activities of daily living, routine patient monitoring, and maintaining a clean, well‑stocked environment while supporting nursing and physician staff and tech desk operations. Reports to the Department Director or Manager.
EssentialFunctions
- Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake and output recording.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
- Observes patients and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
- Maintains patient rooms and common areas in a clean, safe, and appropriately stocked condition.
- Supports nursing and physician staff and assists with tech desk operations to promote department efficiency and patient throughput.
- Documents care and activities in accordance with unit standards.
- Participates in required education and performance improvement activities and performs other duties as assigned.

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure: Occupational exposure may be present.
Physical & Environmental RequirementsPhysical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboarding, repetitive motion, kneeling, and lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near and far vision, depth perception, and color distinction required frequently.
Environmental Exposure: Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases/pathogens, dust, gases/vapors/fumes, and hazardous chemicals or medications; frequent latex exposure.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEducation: High School diploma preferred
Licensure: SRNA or EMT preferred
Certifications: BCLS required;
Handle with Care preferred
- Critical thinking and sound judgment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple software systems
- Effective verbal and written English communication
- Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire
