Position: WEEKEND Waste Collection Truck Driver  CDL Class B

Job Summary:

Boston‑based worker‑owned cooperative seeks responsible professional CDL truck driver for growing organic waste collection business. Responsibilities
  • Perform routine safety inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Adhere to the work schedule.
  • Comply with all company policies and driving laws.
  • Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect organic waste.
  • Ability to use routing app and service each customer identified on the app or assigned by the operations manager.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspection and maintenance, such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading.
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of waste at designated facilities.
  • Courteous interaction with our customers and performing other miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
  • This position requires strenuous physical work: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 100 pounds.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
  • Familiarity with GPS systems, and service log apps.
  • Understanding of all relevant truck driving laws and regulations.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Waste management experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 100 pounds.
  • The work environment involves exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which requires following basic safety precautions.
  • The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
  • A typical schedule for this position is Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 am to 12:00 noon, approximately 16 hours per week.
