OverviewThe Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is a skilled, non‑exempt position that reports to the Facility Management Team. The role is responsible for ensuring the operation of machinery, mechanical equipment, building maintenance, and the functionality of all Charm Sciences facilities. Pay ranges from 27.50 to 41.00 per hour, and compensation is determined by education, experience, and other factors in accordance with applicable laws.
EssentialFunctions
- Ensure the operation of production equipment and machinery.
- Maintain temperature and humidity‑controlled equipment following operations manuals and manufacturer instructions.
- Facilitate operation, maintenance, and repair of purified/RODI water systems.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments with hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hand and power tools; examine form and determine cause and effect.
- Follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures as needed.
- Control downtime by informing Charm employees of routine preventive maintenance techniques and expected repair times.
- Navigates and manages the preventative work order system.
- Maintains a working cell phone for consistent communication during regular working hours, unless provided by the company.
- Snow removal and/or property maintenance may be required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of field experience or trade school/vocational training.
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Residence within 30 miles of Charm Sciences for rotational on‑call assignments.
- Valid driver’s license for travel between facilities.
- Preferred knowledge of OSHA safety rules.
- Familiarity with lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and multi‑tasking skills.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push, pull, carry, or maneuver heavier items with additional manpower or appropriate devices. Able to travel throughout the facility, carry and climb ladders, work from heights, crawl under equipment, and have the dexterity to work with trade tools. Able to function in extreme hot and cold weather, freezers, and outside work-related environments.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods at a bench or computer.
