State Director of Partnerships – Massachusetts

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (part-time and flexible arrangements may be considered)

Compensation: Starting at $60 per hour, commensurate with experience

Position Summary

My Friend Ben  is seeking a State Director of Partnerships in Massachusetts to build partnerships and lead outreach efforts that increase awareness and usage of My Friend Ben , a free online tool that helps Massachusetts residents check their eligibility for public benefits in 6 minutes.

In this role, you will build and maintain meaningful partnerships with organizations across the state and lead strategic outreach efforts that increase awareness and usage of My Friend Ben . This is a metrics-driven role with the opportunity to shape how we expand access to public benefits and tax credits for Massachusetts residents.

The Massachusetts Director of Partnerships is someone who is strategic, relationship-driven, and proactive - a leader who can see the big picture while also executing day-to-day outreach and engagement with care and consistency.

About My Friend Ben

My Friend Ben  is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping people access the public benefits available to them. Our free online tool allows users to quickly and anonymously check their potential eligibility for programs such as food assistance, health coverage, tax credits, and child care support. By simplifying complex systems and partnering with trusted community organizations, My Friend Ben  helps more individuals and families connect to resources that support their health and financial stability.

What

You’ll Do
  • Initiate, build, and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations, agencies, and trusted messengers across Massachusetts
  • Lead and execute outreach strategies that increase My Friend Ben  usage across the state
  • Identify new partnership opportunities and creative ways to reach residents who may benefit from the tool
  • Track outreach activities and performance metrics to evaluate and improve impact
  • Work directly with the My Friend Ben  team to share insights from the field and strengthen our approach
  • Represent My Friend Ben  in meetings, trainings, and events across Massachusetts
Community Activation (35%)
  • Support partners in integrating My Friend Ben  into their outreach and client services
  • Lead trainings and presentations that help organizations confidently use and share My Friend Ben
  • Develop simple outreach materials and messaging that help partners promote the tool
  • Coordinate campaigns, events, and initiatives that increase community awareness of My Friend Ben
  • Help identify and elevate stories of impact that demonstrate how My Friend Ben  is helping residents
Partnerships and External Presence (35%)
  • Serve as a key ambassador for My Friend Ben  across Massachusetts
  • Build relationships with state agencies, nonprofit coalitions, and community leaders
  • Participate in statewide conversations and initiatives related to public benefits access and economic mobility
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Massachusetts benefit programs and policy developments that impact residents
  • Help strengthen My Friend Ben ’s visibility and credibility among partners and stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
  • Full-time position (part time and alternative options available) based in Massachusetts
  • 3–5 years of experience in outreach, partnerships, community engagement, nonprofit programs, or related work
  • Outcomes based individual that can manage connected priorities of ambitious growth and deep partnerships
  • Highly motivated and strategic thinker, with a high degree of initiative and self-discipline
  • Strong relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people and organizations
  • Highly organized and attentive to process and follow-through
  • Goal-oriented and comfortable working toward clear metrics and outcomes
  • Creative thinker who can identify new opportunities for outreach and engagement
  • Experience working with community organizations, government programs, or benefits access efforts is a plus
