GLFHC is nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics) with clinical sites throughout the service area and as the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.

GLFHC is currently seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Medical Assistant. Medical Assistants are responsible for interviewing patients, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit and assisting the clinician with patient care. Prepare patients for visit by taking blood pressure, weight and temperature; and report pertinent information in medical records.

Responsibilities
  • Interview patients and record medical histories; confirm purpose of visit and assist clinicians with patient care.
  • Prepare patients for visits by taking vital signs (blood pressure, weight, temperature) and documenting in medical records.
  • Don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Perform electrocardiography (EKG).
  • Perform ear irrigations, throat cultures, urinalysis, flu testing, glucose testing, and INR testing.
  • Ensure results of tests and procedures are available in medical records.
  • Determine equipment needs for visit and set up exam rooms accordingly.
  • Assist clinicians with treatments and dressings.
  • Translate for providers if certified and needed.
Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Fluency in both spoken and written English. Completion of medical interpreter course strongly recommended.
  • CPR certification.
  • Graduate of a medical assistant program.
