Working closely with their supervisor and as a member of the advertising and marketing campaign teams, the Graphic Designer is responsible for designing for print and digital concepts that communicate ideas and captures the audience’s attention.
This position is also responsible for designing full layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetics from concept to rough layout to final use.
The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating cohesive visual identities through logos, defining brand guidelines, and developing story boards for campaigns, ensuring consistency across print and digital platforms.
This position must be able to manage multiple design projects from concept to final production and collaborate in a matrixed team to complete the design project on schedule.
Engages in regular and unplanned face-to-face meetings.
This position is on-site, full-time in Turners Falls, MA.
PRIMARY DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Design Creation
- Develops creative visual concepts that align with the vision, purpose, and audience, and program or product brand guidelines.
- Designs the overall layout for a variety of print and digital applications, including social media ads, brochures and postcards, catalogs, reports, presentations and website.
- Creates or modifies visual assets, such as logos, infographics, images, or other graphical elements to support marketing strategies.
- Creates visual assets for digital and print marketing.
- Generates QR codes for use in digital and print materials
- Designs and typesets a range of print materials, including layout, importing and cropping photos, typesetting, use of tables and graphs, and has an overall aesthetic appeal.
- Thorough understanding of the print layout and design process and technical knowledge of print production.
- Maintains a current sense of design trends.
- Works closely with supervisor on prepress, press and post-press process.
- Works with others to design print and digital catalogs that feature attractive images of the products at the appropriate resolution surrounded by smaller satellite images and copy that describes the products and their prices. Catalogs should be catered toward the audience that reviews them and balance large, dominant, and smaller images and text
- Strong knowledge of typefaces and typography, full-color printing, RGB / CMYK color spaces, and image formats.
- Create campaign storyboards, style guides/sheets, and templates to act as a rule book for colors, typography, tone, and logo use.
- Understands the project scope, timelines and milestones, ensures quality assurance, manages communication and handles and responds to revisions.
- Presents concepts and incorporates feedback.
- Coordinates printing of materials including preparing printer quotes request, working closely with supervisor to get estimates, and collaborates on scheduling printing and delivery of materials.
- Uploads print files to printers and reviews proofs for accuracy.
- Organizes, archives and maintains design files and assets for easy access; manages and builds library of photo, art, and font files.
- Manages incoming design requests on multiple projects and follows the project life cycle to completion.
- Works effectively in a deadline driven environment.
- Researches and provides advice on graphic design projects.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or related discipline with a strong portfolio showcasing creativity and technical skills.
- One or more years of experience in professional graphic design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), and knowledge of Figma files.
- Proficiency in design fundamentals, such as color theory, typography, layout and branding.
- Experience in designing for social media and preparing files for digital and print output; experience in gift design is a plus.
- Highly organized, excellent attention to detail, strong oral and written communication.
- High accountability for performance, able to receive and apply feedback.
