Position Overview
The Senior Programmer / Technical Lead works within a standards-based, collaborative development environment to design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications and integrations. This role contributes high-quality code, provides advanced technical guidance, and supports a variety of development initiatives using modern, secure, and efficient practices.
The incumbent must be adaptable and flexible, as technical focus areas may shift based on organizational priorities. The position may lead small development teams or serve as a technical lead throughout the software development lifecycle. Continuous professional development is expected, particularly in areas critical to the organization, including web-based application development, system integrations, and mentoring other programmers.
Effective communication with peers, campus partners, data providers, and management is essential to ensuring timely delivery of well‑documented, standards-compliant solutions.

Job Description 35% - Application Development and Support- Designs, develops, maintains, and supports software applications, integrations, and web‑based systems independently or as part of a small, standards‑driven team.
- Continuously seeks opportunities to improve automation, efficiency, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Researches, analyzes, and develops solutions to complex technical problems in alignment with project requirements, functional needs, and enterprise architecture standards.
- Collaborates with functional stakeholders, developers, and members of the university community to understand project requirements and institutional context.
- May lead project teams or serve as the technical lead for developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contributes technical expertise toward the development of complex technical strategies supporting institutional initiatives, systems, and applications.
- Ensures all deliverables meet established development standards, security requirements, and architectural guidelines.
- Actively participates in and promotes a team culture of code walkthroughs, peer review, and knowledge sharing.
- Maintains regular communication with the Unit Manager, providing project status updates, technical insights, and knowledge transfer to clients and peers.
