Responsible for performing general labor as part of a team that is responsible for track projects including construction, maintenance, inspections, and service.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Driving spikes
* Moving and setting cross ties and lengths of steel rail
* Shoveling stone
* Adjusting switches
* Lubricating switches
* Tightening track bolts
* Checking track gauge
* Checking cross level
* Carrying track jack (approx. 40 lbs.)
* Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
* Other duties as assigned.

Pay rate: $20/hr. based on experience

** EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
*** High School Diploma/GED preferred.
* Military Experience would be helpful.
** LANGUAGE SKILLS
** Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
** MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
** REASONING ABILITY
** Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with the typical problems that occur in track maintenance.
** PHYSICAL DEMANDS
