MXI are partnered with a leading design/build partner in the Midwest, specializing in mission critical facilities and data enter construction. Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design and analysis of electrical systems for mission critical projects.
Responsibilities- Engineer and detail low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including preparation of single-line drawings, equipment arrangement plans, and cable documentation.
- Contribute to power system studies such as load flow, fault current, and voltage drop analyses utilizing tools like ETAP, SKM, or Easy Power.
- Assist with arc flash hazard evaluations in alignment with NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584 guidelines.
- Work alongside senior engineers to support protection and coordination studies, including development of relay setting parameters.
- Prepare and review electrical design packages and construction drawings, ensuring adherence to applicable standards (NEC, ANSI, IEEE) and client specifications.
- Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams—mechanical, controls, and construction—to ensure cohesive and fully integrated design solutions.
- Provide support during construction and commissioning phases, including addressing RFIs and evaluating contractor submittals.
- Travel to client locations as needed for site assessments, proposal support, engineering reviews, or installation activities.
- 4+ years post-graduate experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years of experience in data center electrical design.
- Doctorate, Masters, or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or adjacent subjects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification, with PE license preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Must be professional with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
