Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments
- Concept creation
- Leading designs with support from peers, SME’s, and BIM designers
- Internal and external problem resolution
- Drawing and specification production
- Customer and vendor accessibility
- Design and develop security solutions for buildings, facilities, and sites
- Create schematics, schedules, and plan drawings; perform calculations for video storage, bandwidth usage, and power loads
- Contribute to cross‑discipline coordination; identify potential conflicts or inconsistencies with architectural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams
- Ensure projects are completed on time and to client expectations
Education – Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline; master’s degree preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Professional security certifications (CISSP, CPP, PSP, etc.) are a plus.
Experience
- 12+ years of professional experience in planning, designing, and commissioning physical security systems and/or communication networks.
- Project management experience is a plus.
Technical Expertise
- In‑depth knowledge of physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control, biometric systems, and intrusion detection, and familiarity with leading manufacturers.
- Conducting vulnerability and risk assessments using various methodologies.
- Evaluating emerging security technologies and analyzing trade‑offs (e.g., multi‑megapixel cameras versus thermal imaging, ground‑based radar versus Lidar).
- Strong understanding of network technologies and cybersecurity principles.
Skills
- Exceptional problem‑solving abilities.
- Team collaboration and constructive feedback skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and design collaboration tools.
- Experience with Revit, ACC, BIM
360, AutoCAD, and/or Micro Station. - Knowledge of CSI design and construction specifications.
- Estimating and scheduling mid‑to‑large‑scale project design effort.
- Construction cost estimating for security implementation.
Optional / Ideal Additional Experience
- Leading projects and managing resources.
- Mentoring junior staff.
- Design management experience.
- Design experience in data centers.
