Position Overview
KU Design Camp is a pre‑college summer program for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in Architecture or Design. Students learn through hands‑on workshops taught by KU School of Architecture & Design faculty. The School of Architecture & Design is hiring Resident Assistants to aid camp logistics and activities, including eating meals with campers and staying overnight in the residence hall.
Applicants must be available for the entirety of the camp, May 31 – June 6, 2026. Training sessions will take place prior to the start of camp and will be scheduled when staff are hired.
- Eat meals with camp participants, facilitate evenings activities, and assist with camp functions as needed (30%).
- Stay overnight in the residence hall during camp week to oversee camp participants (30%).
- Escort camp participants to and from Design Camp activities across campus (20%).
- Respond to student issues, conflict concerns, and crisis situations (5%).
- Demonstrate ethical conduct and encourage responsible behavior in others (5%).
- Follow and enforce University, Housing, and Design Camp regulations and policies (5%).
- Other related duties as assigned (5%).
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Conditions:
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. (2) This is an hourly/non‑exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non‑exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
