Job GoalTo help reduce or eliminate speech/language problems that interfere with the individual student's ability to drive full benefit from the district educational program.
Performance Responsibilities- Provide speech/language screening for kindergarten students and assist with Pre‑K and Head Start as needed.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech/language problems.
- Provide screening and/or full speech/language evaluation and diagnosis for students referred with articulation, fluency, voice, and/or language difficulties.
- Provide individualized therapeutic programs to meet students' speech/language needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to implement therapy suggestions for students' daily activities.
- Assist in proper referrals of individuals with speech/language/hearing difficulties to agencies and specialists as appropriate.
- Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, controls, and reach with hands and arms. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; occasional climbing or balancing. Must lift or move up to 40 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Terms of EmploymentTen‑month year. Salary to be established by the Board.
