Join to apply for the Human Resources Administrator role at Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes

Overview
As a member of the military, Human Resources Administrators provide administrative and general human resources support to all military activities.

The primary duties of a Human Resources Administrator include:

  • Human resources administration and services
  • Administration of pay and allowances
  • Automated pay systems and information management
  • Maintenance of personnel records

Work environment
Human Resources Administrators are employed at all CAF bases in Canada, on ships, and overseas, supporting the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, or Royal Canadian Air Force. They may also serve in special operation units, medical organizations, recruiting offices, schools, reserve units, NATO/UN positions, and other specialized units across the CAF. Opportunities also exist with embassies where Canada has a military attaché.

If you join the Regular Force, after training, you will be assigned to your first base with potential relocations. Reserve Force members serve part-time at a specific unit, usually working one night per week and some weekends, with options for full-time employment. They do not typically relocate but can volunteer to do so or deploy on missions.

Entry requirements
No prior work experience or specific skills are required. The minimum education is completion of Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec, including Grade 10 Applied Math and Grade 10 English or French. Foreign education may be accepted.

Training
Initial training includes the Basic Military Qualification course (BMQ) at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu or Borden, focusing on physical fitness and basic skills. Human Resources Administrators then attend the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre in Borden for 90 days of occupational training, covering topics like personnel record management, pay processing, leave management, and more. Opportunities for advanced training in specialized areas are available as career progresses.

Part-time options
This role is available for part-time employment with the Primary Reserve across Canada. Reserve members serve part-time, typically in their community, and may volunteer for deployments or relocations. They are paid a percentage of Regular Force pay, with benefits and pension contributions.
