The OpportunityGraham Mathew CPA is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to play a critical leadership role in the firm’s continued growth and success.
This position is ideal for a technically strong, client-focused tax professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys both strategic advisory work and mentoring others. You will lead complex tax engagements, build lasting client relationships, and contribute meaningfully to the firm’s long-term strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies related to:
- Business in corporations
- Corporate reorganizations (including trust integration)
- Purchase and sale transactions
- Shareholder remuneration planning
- Deliver high-quality tax advisory services to private clients and businesses
- Build, manage, and grow a strong book of business
- Lead multifaceted client engagements across a range of industries
- Review personal, corporate, trust, and partnership tax work for completeness and accuracy
- Provide tax planning valuations and review tax election forms
- Coordinate advice with advisors in other jurisdictions
- Support strategic direction and firm growth initiatives
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members
- Manage billing proposals, WIP, and client billings
- Stay current on evolving tax legislation and best practices
- Completion (or near completion) of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program or a Master of Taxation degree
- Minimum 5+ years specializing in tax within a public accounting firm
- Progressive experience serving private clients and high net worth individuals
- Strong ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively
- Experience with domestic and foreign-owned entities, M&A, corporate structures, divestitures, tax accounting methods, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of GST/HST
- Experience with Taxprep / Profile
- Familiarity with tax research platforms such as Knotia, CTF Taxfind, Taxnet Pro, Video Tax News, CCH Answer Connect, and Blue J Tax
