Reporting to the Technical & Project Manager, the Application Engineer / Designer will be responsible for providing fluid power design solutions for mobile equipment. This will include hydraulic system design and optimization, component selection and design, and hydraulic system troubleshooting. In this role, the candidate will collaborate with the customer, AIT’s Sales team and an Electronics & Controls Specialist. The ideal candidate must be bilingual, experienced, result driven and team focused.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hydraulic systems for mobile equipment
  • Create and maintain detailed hydraulic schematics for designs & components
  • Create and manage 3D CAD models, produce 2D fabrication & assembly drawings
  • Provide on-site and remote commissioning & troubleshooting support for projects
  • Work with vendors to obtain pricing & delivery
  • Create and maintain projects bills of material
  • Create and contribute to technical project proposals
  • Oversee technical projects to ensure documentation and quality standards are met
  • Help drive initiatives and results to achieve departmental priorities & targets
  • Take ownership of the development of solutions from concept to completion
  • Stay up to date on the latest technologies while looking for opportunities to enhance Applied’s product and service offerings
  • Coach others in the technologies to help them advance their skills & knowledge.
  • Document value-added services for solutions provided to the customer
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, registered or eligible for registration with OIQ or the Quebec equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience providing hydraulic and fluid power design solutions in mobile hydraulics applications for various industries (agricultural preferred)
  • Skilled in the creation of 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, schematics and instructions is a must
  • Bilingual (French/English) is a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools such as Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Experience in Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and/or other risk assessment techniques would be an asset
  • Experience in project management and lean manufacturing would be an asset
  • Knowledge of electronic controls, software development & communication protocols, electrical integration, wiring harnesses design & electrification would be an asset
  • Collaborative spirit with the ability to develop/maintain relationships with ease inside & outside the organization
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot on-site and remotely
  • Strong communication & presentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required (less than 10%)
