Location:
Global Observatory for Gender Equality and Sport, Villa Mon-Repos, Parc de Mon-Repos 1, 1005 Lausanne. Reporting: CEO.
Purpose:
The role is responsible for coordinating and relaying the Global Observatory advisory and capacity support to international sport organisations. They coordinate the provision of strategic advice from the Global Observatory to the sport organisation in planning and policy making processes, in coordination meetings and task groups, as well as through existing focal points.
Role Context:
The Global Observatory provides the following gender advisory service to international sport ecosystem to enable the delivery of gender strategies:
- Assisting mapping existing gender-related policies, initiatives, data, and resources within the international sport ecosystem.
- Assisting identifying key issues, gaps, and priorities, including reference to relevant research and studies related to international sport ecosystem and gender equality.
- Assisting in supporting the definition and prioritisation of strategic milestones and actions related to gender equality.
- Supporting engagement, coordination, and capacity-building activities across governance, technical, and athlete-related areas.
- Providing practical resources, tools, and guidance, including learning and training solutions where appropriate.
- Supporting the use of data and evidence to inform programme design, decision making, and resource allocation.
- Supporting, where relevant, the review of sponsorship and investment aspects related to gender equality.
This suite of actions is undertaken through a blend of in‑house staff, consultants, and network of experts around the world.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating in‑house actions by the Global Observatory team and network and liaising with international sport organisations to ensure that gender issues are adequately addressed. Their tasks are:
- Maintaining a positive and productive working relationship with relevant project collaborators in the international sport ecosystem.
- Developing and managing the work plan agreed between the Global Observatory and the International Federation.
- Monitoring and managing progress towards milestones and deliverables.
- Documenting partner decisions and action points related to the project.
- Coordinating input of Global Observatory experts, network, service providers on related deliverables.
- Communicating regularly with the appointed liaison in International sport organisation.
- Developing communication to support the uptake of project advice and support.
- Maintaining a database of resources that are appropriate to support the International Federation.
- Documenting good practice and learning in the implementation of the cooperation for sharing with other international sport organisations.
- Reporting on the project progress and outcomes.
- Coordinating development of resources and tools by Global Observatory to meet needs of international sport organisations.
- Supporting Global Observatory communication to key audiences.
Skills:
The Project Coordinator will have experience and skills aligned to:
- International relations and diplomacy.
- Proven experience in advancing gender equality through sport initiatives.
- Management of multi‑disciplinary stakeholder collaborations.
- Communication, planning, and project management skills.
- Experience in diversity of work settings including corporate, NGOs, at local and international settings.
- Understanding of gender equality frameworks, policies, and approaches.
- Ability to collaborate in a multi‑cultural international setting.
- Knowledge of the Global Observatory mission and approaches.
- Experience in working in the Global North and Global South.
- English language fluency.
- Managing and building partnerships.
- Experience in developing reports.
- Research and knowledge management experience in gender equality.
