DSP Scientist – R&D Purification
We are looking for a DSP Scientist to join our teams in Switzerland and support R&D purification activities.
Responsibilities- Design, execute, and optimize downstream purification processes within R&D and early process development activities.
- Perform hands‑on laboratory work to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize purification steps, ensuring robustness, scalability, and performance.
- Operate and interpret data from chromatography systems (ÄKTA), including method development, resin screening, and process optimization.
- Apply spectrometry‑based analytical techniques to assess product quality, purity, and process performance.
- Use KR2i systems for high‑throughput resin and condition screening and purification strategy optimization.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and propose scientifically sound process improvements.
- Interface closely with the Project Manager / Project Lead, providing technical input, progress updates, and risk assessments related to purification.
- Contribute to cross‑functional discussions with Upstream, Analytics, MSAT, and Quality teams to ensure process coherence and alignment.
- Document experimental work, results, and conclusions in a structured and traceable manner in line with R&D and GMP‑like expectations.
- Support technology transfer and scale‑up considerations, ensuring readiness for later‑stage development and manufacturing.
- Master’s or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in downstream process development, with strong exposure to purification and Media Cure optimization.
- Solid hands‑on expertise with chromatography techniques and systems such as ÄKTA.
- Experience using KR2i or similar high‑throughput screening platforms is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of spectrometry and chromatographic analytical methods applied to DSP.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently in the lab and collaboratively in project teams.
- Experience interfacing with project managers or technical leads in a matrix R&D environment.
- Strong analytical mindset, problem‑solving skills, and scientific rigor.
- Fluency in English;
French or German is an advantage.
