Applications Engineer – Electroacoustics (Active Systems)
We are seeking an Applications Engineer – Electroacoustics (Active Systems) to support the integration of the Company’s patented Plasmapanel technology into customer products across ventilation, automotive, commercial and private aviation, and defence applications.
The role is hands‑on and application‑focused, combining acoustic characterisation, system integration, experimental testing, and data‑driven analysis. Working closely with senior acoustic, system, and electronics engineers, the successful candidate will contribute directly to the translation of advanced electroacoustic technology into validated customer solutions.
The position reports to the Company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is based at the Company’s R&D facility in Lausanne, Switzerland. It offers early exposure to complex, real‑world electroacoustic systems and customer programmes, with clear opportunities to build deep technical expertise and progressively on increased responsibility.
Responsibilities- Perform acoustic characterisation of customer systems and environments, including baseline measurements, diagnostics, and problem definition.
- Define, tune, and validate Plasmapanel integration for specific applications, accounting for acoustic performance targets, geometry, constraints, and operating conditions.
- Support mechanical, electrical, and system‑level integration in collaboration with internal engineering teams and customer engineers.
- Install, commission, and validate Plasmapanel systems in laboratory and customer environments.
- Plan and execute controlled acoustic test campaigns to assess performance against defined benchmarks.
- Analyse measurement data and translate results into clear technical conclusions, design recommendations, and next‑step actions.
- Prepare structured technical reports, test documentation, and customer deliverables in line with established Company methods and protocols.
- Support feasibility studies, demonstrations, and proof‑of‑concept projects with OEM and Tier‑1 customers.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal test methods, integration guidelines, and application documentation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Acoustics or a closely related discipline, with formal academic training covering acoustics, electronics, and signal processing.
- Strong grounding in applied acoustics, noise control, and electroacoustic systems.
- Solid understanding of acoustic measurement techniques, transducers, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with active or semi‑active noise control systems is an advantage.
- Proficiency with analysis and simulation tools such as MATLAB is essential.
- Relevant experience in applied acoustics, noise control, or electroacoustic system integration, gained through graduate employment, internships, industrial placements, or thesis‑based project work.
- Hands‑on experience with acoustic testing, measurement, and data analysis in laboratory or field environments.
- Exposure to product integration or customer‑facing technical projects in sectors such as HVAC, automotive, aerospace, or industrial systems is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to operate effectively in a structured engineering environment, with guidance from senior engineers as appropriate.
- Demonstrated capability to translate measurement results and analysis into clear technical conclusions and documentation.
- Practical and analytical approach to engineering, with a strong focus on experimental validation and problem solving.
- Self‑motivated, with the ability to take ownership of defined technical tasks while working within a structured engineering team.
- Clear and concise communicator, capable of producing high‑quality technical documentation and engaging in technical discussions with customers and colleagues.
- Comfortable working in hands‑on laboratory and customer‑facing environments.
- Well organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple technical activities in parallel.
- The position is based at the Company’s R&D facility in Lausanne, Switzerland.
- English is the working language for this role.
