The Yard Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of yard operations, equipment, and personnel. The Yard Supervisor must ensure that the yard is operating in an efficient, productive, and safe manner at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Keep yard in orderly condition.
- Maintain security over products entering and leaving the yard.
- Supervise and train drivers in safe driving and unloading at jobsites.
- Train employees in customer service skills and how to give outstanding customer service.
- Attend training sessions to learn and keep current on products we sell.
- Educate employees and customers on the products we sell.
- Effectively handle customer complaints and warranty issues.
- Train employees on store procedures for loading, unloading, delivering and other procedures involving their specific job.
- Learn and teach company procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
- Perform additional directly related appropriate duties as assigned.
- Oversee yard organization, product security, and dispatch operations to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.
- Train and supervise drivers and yard staff on safe driving, and loading/unloading procedures.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, determine root causes and develop remediation strategies for permanent resolutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to recommend changes to drive business objectives.
- Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, making clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Knowledge of yard operations, how to organize workflows, manage inventory, pick and load merchandise, operate equipment, and maintain safety requirements.
- Skilled in providing clear, concise verbal instructions.
- Ability to identify problems or bottlenecks and determine appropriate resolutions.
- Skilled in organizing and delegating.
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor staff.
- Knowledge of applicable Safety, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
