Position Overview:
The Senior Tax Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing complex tax engagements, ensuring technical accuracy, maintaining strong client relationships, developing staff, managing workflows, and supporting firm growth through quality service and business development efforts.
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships to support long-term retention.
- Communicate with clients to ensure their best interests are consistently prioritized.
- Perform final technical review of tax returns and related documents.
- Research complex tax issues and recommend solutions.
- Stay current on evolving tax laws and accounting procedures.
- Plan, schedule, and manage client engagements to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Direct and support staff by setting objectives, monitoring budgets, and fostering a positive, high-performing work environment.
- Oversee quality control and evaluate personnel performance.
- Manage tasks and projects assigned to staff and supervisors.
- Mentor and develop team members at multiple levels.
- Build and nurture networks to drive new business opportunities.
- Manage billing, collections, WIP monitoring, aging, and write-downs.
- Participate in and help facilitate internal CPE and training programs.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Business development experience within a CPA firm is preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of public accounting experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.
- Strong decision-making skills with the initiative to act independently.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a heavy workload.
