About the Role:

Skillforce is seeking HVAC VRF Technicians in the Laurel, MD area. The VRF Technician will be support field trade teams and/or third party contractors and is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial HVACR equipment, systems, and units.

Pay Range: $30-34/HR (DOE)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship.
  • Valid HVAC technician certification (e.g., EPA Section 608 Certification).
  • Proven experience in HVAC system troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and mechanical components related to HVAC.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in HVAC technology or related field.
  • Additional certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or HVAC Excellence.
  • Experience with advanced HVAC control systems and building automation.
  • Familiarity with refrigerant handling and environmental regulations.
  • Strong background in customer service and project management.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation units.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using specialized tools and equipment to identify issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Install new HVAC systems and components according to manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of service requests and installations.
  • Maintain detailed service records, report on system performance, and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards during all service activities.
  • Provide clear communication and professional customer service to educate clients on system operation and maintenance.
