Description

Are you interested in learning how real world electrical power systems are documented, analyzed, and improved?

Do you enjoy working with technical data, system diagrams, and collaborating with engineers to solve practical infrastructure challenges?

If you're pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field and want to gain hands on experience in electrical power distribution, system mapping, and modeling, we'd love to have you join our team!

We are seeking an intern to help us improve visibility and understanding of the campus electrical distribution system to support reliable operations and long term infrastructure planning. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to mapping, documenting, and modeling electrical distribution assets that support critical facilities and operations. You will be joining a hardworking team of engineers and scientists who value accuracy, collaboration, and practical engineering solutions.

As a member of our team...

* Your primary responsibility will be supporting the mapping, documentation, and modeling of the campus electrical distribution system

* You will ...

* Assist in compiling and validating electrical distribution data, including one line diagrams, feeders, substations, and equipment

* Support the development and refinement of campus electrical system maps and documentation

* Assist with data input, validation, and basic electrical modeling using SKM Power Tools software

* Help identify gaps or inconsistencies in existing electrical records

* Coordinate with facilities staff and engineers to verify field conditions

* Support the preparation of technical summaries and documentation for planning and analysis

* Operate APL Vehicles(service vans/trucks) to travel across campus

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

* Are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

* Have a passion for electrical power systems, infrastructure, and applying engineering concepts to real world problems

* Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

* Hold U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL's facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

* Requires valid state-of-residence driver's license in good standing

* Have a basic understanding of electrical power systems and distribution concepts

* Are familiar with electrical drawings, one line diagrams, and technical documentation

* Have experience with SKM Power Tools

* Are highly detail oriented and comfortable working with structured technical data

* Are an effective communicator who enjoys working collaboratively in a team environment
