The Manager of Logistics and Transportation drives performance and reliability within the transportation network, develops and executes transportation strategies, and leads key logistics and distribution projects that deliver best‑in‑class operations. The role collaborates with functional and operational stakeholders to create improvement plans that elevate customer service while reducing transportation and operational costs. It also builds high‑impact partnerships with 3PL partners and carriers to optimize network performance and service.
The Manager is a hands possui leading analyst, developing logistics analyses, reports, and models, and actively managing projects alongside the team.
- Lead in a way that improves performance toward Enterprise Key Results and demonstrates the highest commitment to safety and integrity.
- Partner with business segments and functional stakeholders, championing standardization of best practices across the various operating models globally.
- Develop and implement repeatable Logistics and Transportation methodologies to deploy initiatives quickly.
- Craft a comprehensive program to improve performance and orchestration of all logistics (freight, parcel, cross‑dock, warehousing, operations).
- Define, staff, and lead logistics performance improvement projects with executive leadership, supply chain leadership, partners, and stakeholders.
- Act as subject‑matter authority in logistics performance standards.
- Investigate evolving industry and functional best practices to implement new capabilities and mature processes.
- Lead and manage various logistics projects within the distribution framework.
- Manage regional Transportation Management resources to review performance and spend proactively, and enable continuous optimization of transportation flows, cost reduction, and lead‑time improvements.
- Keep transportation service providers accountable, track delayed shipments, and resolve freight issues collaboratively.
- Govern performance and reliability metrics in logistics worldwide, supporting root‑cause analysis for gaps.
- Develop new models, reports, and analytics for global adoption to improve and automate logistics planning, execution, and reporting.
- Partner with Strategic Sourcing on 3PL partner selection and performance management.
- Collaborate with Information Technology to drive data transparency, harmonization, and reporting.
- Lead network meetings to close gaps and share best practices.
- Work with IT and Strategic Sourcing to standardize core information system solutions and analytics platforms.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field. MBA or another advanced degree preferred.
- 5‑8 years progressive supply chain roles in industrial and/or B2B supply chains.
- Experience leading and running logistics transformation projects and roadmaps covering operating model, process, & systems. Project‑management certification preferred.
- Strong change‑management capability with a track record of leading large‑scale change.
- Consistent record of developing, training, and mentoring teams in continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of business systems and information technology for complex supply‑chain activities.
- Hands‑on experience with supply‑chain logistics systems and analytics.
- Experience using ERP systems, especially standard supply‑chain modules and reporting; SAP strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership with the ability to influence across a large geographically diverse organization.
- Demonstrated ability to standardize and improve supply‑chain processes for tangible financial impact.
- Good understanding of financial metrics and processes impacted by supply‑chain performance.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to lead through influence at all levels.
- Strong communicator capable of articulating strategy and tactics through all levels of the organization.
