About The Opportunity
The Baler Operator is responsible for removing and baling scrap from machine centers. The person in this position is responsible for operating a baler and hogger in a safe and efficient manner, fulfilling requirements set forth by the customer of recycled corrugated board. Preventive maintenance and good safety practices are also required.
Essential Functions:
Changed from Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures

2. Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines

3. Collect scrap from all machine centers and ensure that carts, skids etc. do not build up to unsafe levels

4. Complete process waste forms accurately

5. Identify and mark all scrap from each machine center

6. Operate scale and weigh all scrap

7. Operate shredder and balers in a safe and efficient manner

8. Understand functions and controls of the baler and hogger

9. Respool baler and clean tie guards

10. Must be familiar with safety features of the baler and hogger

11. Free baler system of jam-ups

12. Free Cyclone of jam-ups

13. Fill out process waste tags

14. Fill out corrugator tally sheet

15. Identify and save stock for tops and bottoms

16. Record bale weight information and notify shipping when a pickup is needed

17. Perform minor preventive maintenance on scale, shredder/baler and all other related equipment as needed

18. Play an active role in the maintenance and cleanliness of assigned equipment and surrounding work area, especially in the baler room, shredder and scale areas

19. Perform miscellaneous job functions as necessary to aid in production or quality

20. Report any unsafe issues to supervisor

21. Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements

22. Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors
