** Air Products and Chemicals Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an Operation Technician at our LaSalle, Illinois facility.

The LaSalle site is an Air Separation Unit (ASU) responsible for producing liquid and gaseous industrial products to support customer and operational  this role, the candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining and fixing processes and equipment in a facility producing and shipping various industrial gases. Responsibilities include working within procedure-based systems to ensure ES&H compliance, quality assurance, reliability, and cost control.

You must be self-motivated, safety conscious, a good communicator and possess good organization, operating and mechanical skills.

** Responsibilities:
*** Safety performance, Basic Safety Process compliance and process safety management.
* Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including solving plant process problems, directly supervising daily plant activities and driving plant projects.
* Troubleshooting plant process or mechanical problems, coordinating maintenance activities, driving plant efficiency and plant projects.
* 24/7 on-call responsibilities for response to plant alarms and shutdowns.
* Identifying maintenance concerns, developing and implementing corrective/preventive measures while working within planned maintenance budgets.
* Working with the LaSalle Operations Team in covering vacation and outage support to all associated facilities within the LaSalle Site Manager’s areas of responsibility.
* Perform and maintain all administrative responsibilities for the sites.
* Working with support resources to achieve efficiency targets in all areas.
* Identifying maintenance concerns, then developing and implementing corrective / preventative measures.

* Qualifications:

*** High School Diploma or equivalent
* Certificate in process technology or maintenance field (preferred) or 2 years minimum in a manufacturing/production, processing or chemical/ petrochemical environment a plus.
* This is a safety‑sensitive position
* Participants in Skills USA are encouraged to apply.
* Strong instrument, electrical and mechanical proficiency is desired.
* Shown dedication to safety and continuous improvement
* Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone or as part of a team.
* Military training in a technical field
* Shown success in EH&S and Quality
* Confirmed experience in complex plant operations, skilled in troubleshooting
* Knowledge of generated gas or air separation processes a plus (training provided)
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Proficient in computer applications
** The hourly rate for this position starts between $44.74 and $48.26, depending on experience and qualifications.
