Salary $39.11 - $62.58 Hourly; $81,349 - $130,159 Annually. This position is a Pay Band C11.
About the Organization The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month.
There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.
How the job gets done Incumbent will provide nursing care to meet the needs of the patients in the Adult Psychiatric Division/CARE and will provide direction/guidance to direct care staff and implementation/direction of all nursing activities toward common hospital goals.
Responsibilities- Administer all types of medications to include oral and injectable for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems.
- Perform various treatments ordered by the physicians to assure patient s optimal physical/mental well-being.

Ideal CandidateIdeal candidate will have:
- Experience caring for the mentally ill
- Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care
- Experience in administration of all types of medications
- Must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act Section 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico
, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
- Must possess a current driver s license and defensive driving certificate.
- SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS—This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
- CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK—Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license. Successful completion of the HIPAA.
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDTI) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations required. The campus became 100% Tobacco Free/ E-Cigarette Free; no tobacco or E-cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
