Position Title: Transportation Driver - Part Time FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Clubhouse Director Pay Grade: $18.00/hour
Job SummaryThe Transportation Driver is responsible for transporting staff and youth members to and from Clubhouses for Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) needs. Additionally, the Transportation Driver may be required to assist with other operational functions regarding club vehicles and transportation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Transportation Driving – Responsible for safe driving of club vehicles to transport staff and/or youth members between locations within the organization s primary geographical area (Las Vegas valley). Typically, this would include pick-up and/or drop-off at local schools, but may also include transportation for special events, field trips, work programs, etc. as needed.
- Assists passengers on and off vehicles when needed.
- Assists with identification and development of appropriate routes for routine transportation trips, uses knowledge of local area, GPS, and/or mapping applications to avoid high traffic areas and to ensure the shortest and safest routes.
- Maintains timely schedule for all routes/travel.
- Inspects the cleanliness and oversees the safe operation of club vehicles. Completes pre- and post-trip check out/in of vehicles. Reports any mechanical issues with vehicles such as brakes, steering, or other issues to the Clubhouse Director.
- Submits accident, maintenance or other reports when needed.
- Works cohesively with club staff to foster a positive environment for staff and members.
- May assist and participate in other duties of clubhouse operations.
Engages with members, families, Clubhouse staff, volunteers, Club Support Staff, and allied partners from the community to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, report, and facilitate the implementation of programs. Participates in meetings to promote alignment and collaboration with other departments and clubhouses.
Additional Responsibilities- Participate in required operational events and training.
- Enforces and abides by organizational rules, policies, procedures and practices.
- Provide attention and direction to special needs children.
- Maintains a professional appearance and bearing reflective of the high standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Proper license and ability to drive standard, full-size, 15 passenger van safely.
- Ability to deal effectively with children aged 6 through 18, in group settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact well with staff, volunteers, and other related agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for the safety and well-being of others.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk or drive for prolonged periods, and stoop and kneel occasionally.
- Ability to speak and hear to use telephone, conduct meetings, etc.
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
- Ability to push, pull, reach for and lift articles up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to hear and see all activity in and around work areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff, community partners, and for public speaking, etc.
- At least 21 years of age with valid driver’s license, clean driving record and three years licensure.
- Ability to occasionally work irregular or extended hours.
- Position is regulated by the Nevada Transportation Authority (NTA) and does involve random testing for drugs/alcohol.
- Pass Drug Testing and Fingerprint Based Background Checks Required as Conditions of Employment
