Role Summary
The Lead Aircraft Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing day-to-day maintenance and repair of line aircraft, ensuring safe operations and full compliance with Company, FAA, and other regulatory requirements at Horizon Air. As part of the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division, this individual contributor provides guidance and sets direction to uphold the highest standards in safety, compliance, quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
This position is represented by a union.
Key Duties
+ Lead the day-to-day maintenance and repair of line aircraft, assign tasks and duties, repair and perform maintenance on aircraft including dismantling, repairing, assembly, and construction of machinery and mechanical devices.
+ Coordinate with planning to ensure staffing can support workload needs and advise maintenance supervisors of expected timelines and status of all work in process.
+ Exercise the authority of the FAA Certified Airman License and Airframe and/or Powerplant License when signing the corrective action in maintenance documents or aircraft maintenance log for airworthiness release or return to service, ensuring such is in accordance with Horizon Air policies and procedures.
+ Act as flight deck coordinator, when assigned, to ensure safe operation of aircraft systems (e.g., flight controls, electrical, landing gear) from the flight deck.
+ Ensure shift turnover processes accurately document all in-progress maintenance and meet procedural requirements.
+ Coordinate with Engineering for technical support and with Materials for parts and tooling requirements.
+ Maintain hangar and ramp areas free of foreign object debris (FOD) and ensure hazardous materials are handled per regulatory standards.
+ Support Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives by identifying hazards, promoting safety, and monitoring risk controls.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
+ 1 year minimum of FAR 121 maintenance and/or engineering experience.
+ Must have valid A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license.
+ Ability to successfully pass the Maintenance Lead knowledge test within 60 days of employment.
+ Ability to obtain Run/Taxi qualification within first 90 days on the job.
+ Meet recency experience requirements of 14 CFR 65.83 (i.e., six months' experience in the last 24 months).
+ Must have valid passport allowing unrestricted travel in and out of the United States.
+ Eligible to enter and exit Canada without restrictions and without requiring a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP).
+ Willingness to travel up to 25% - 50% of the time, frequent travel is required to various stations across CA, AZ, NV and other locations that Horizon Air operates at or will operate at.
+ Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
+ Ability to operate various types of ground support equipment, including movable turboways, forklifts, tow tractors, elevated boom lifts, and hoists.
+ Strong understanding of aircraft systems with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
+ Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
+ Possess an adequate complement of tools.
+ Comfortable working at heights using stands, ladders, or other equipment to access elevated aircraft surfaces.
+ Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
+ Flexible working varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Minimum age 18.
+ Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred
+ E175 maintenance and/or engineering experience.

USD $35.10/Hr.
