Overview
What You’ll Do As a Lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to deliver exemplary and friendly customer service to all guests while prioritizing the safety of guests as they enjoy the pool area. This involves vigilant observation of guests in the pool, executing designated rescue procedures when necessary, and upholding safety measures in accordance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities- Ensure the safety of guests by providing constant visual surveillance of the pool and surrounding areas, promptly identifying and responding to potential safety or emergency situations.
- Enforce all facility rules to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment for guests.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, demonstrating proficiency in water rescue, CPR, AED use, and first aid.
- Conduct regular inspections of pool and surrounding areas, identifying cleaning needs, addressing problems, and reporting maintenance or repair requirements.
- Successfully complete weekly continuing in-service training requirements and participate in routine observation and skills audits to ensure ongoing proficiency.
- Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance as an integral function of the job.
- Fulfill any other related duties as assigned.
- This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
- Ability to work nights and weekends and holidays as business demands.
- Working knowledge of first aid for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
- At least 16 years of age.
- Experience as a Pool Guest Attendant or Lifeguard.
- Experience in a similar resort setting.
- Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
- Swim 100 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
- Frequent lift/carry of 20-50 pounds with occasional lift of weight in excess of 100 pounds.
- Be able to successfully complete Company-sponsored lifeguard training and pass Company-required advanced testing and elite certification, to include water rescue, CPR, AED use, and first aid.
- Ability for prolonged periods of time to sit, walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
- Work outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, varying conditions of temperature, heat, water, wind, extensive sun exposure, chemicals, including chlorine and other pool chemicals, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
- Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
