Overview
The University Of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the Locksmith 1, Facilities Management. Locksmiths maintain the master key system for a major facility and install and maintain locking devices and systems. Incumbents possess knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm and is subject to change based on departmental and University needs.
Responsibilities- Maintain the master key system for the UNLV campuses and install and maintain locking devices and systems, including boring cylinder, tumbler, electronic magnetic, and push-button combination locks, and panic exit devices.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of work completed, associated files and vendor information for the assigned work area to provide a tracking system for maintenance and installations; establish and update records and schematics for equipment installed and maintained; perform software and configuration changes and updates.
- Establish and maintain records and files and prepare reports pertaining to operations, materials, and supplies.
- Adhere to state and agency policies and procedures pertaining to work unit operations, personnel, and purchasing; comply with state and local building codes, NFPA 70, NAC 477, NRS 477, and OSHA requirements.
- Possess a current Class C Driver’s License at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
- Completion of a recognized locksmith apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A current Class C Driver’s License is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
- Specific knowledge in Small Format Interchangeable Cores (SFIC) cores.

Salary and BenefitsSalary:
Grade 30, Step 1, salary $54,267.12. In accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 284.170, initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade.
