Job Title:
Automatic Door Service Technician (AADM Certified) Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Automatic Door Service Technician with AADM certification to install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain automatic door systems in commercial and institutional environments. This role is critical to ensuring safe, code-compliant, and reliable access solutions for our customers.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, customer-oriented, and comfortable working independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automatic door systems including:
- Sliding doors
- Swing doors
- Folding doors
- Low-energy and full-energy operators
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability
- Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner
- Install new automatic door operators, controls, sensors, and safety devices
- Retrofit existing manual doors with automatic operators
- Replace and upgrade obsolete or non-compliant components
- Perform inspections and adjustments to ensure compliance with:
- ANSI/BHMA standards
- AADM safety guidelines
- Local and state building codes
- Conduct and document AADM safety checks
- Educate customers on proper door operation and safety requirements
- Accurately complete service reports, inspections, and work orders
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair needs to customers
- Coordinate with dispatch, sales, and operations teams as needed
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor on job sites
- Build strong relationships with property managers, facilities teams, and contractors
- Identify and communicate potential upsell opportunities (service contracts, upgrades)
- AADM Certification
- 2+ years of hands-on experience servicing automatic door systems
- Strong understanding of:
- Automatic door operators
- Sensors, controls, and safety devices
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation manuals
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various environments
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
