Job Description

Amentum is seeking a Locksmith to work North of the Las Vegas, NV area to install, repair, rebuild, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices by performing the following duties.

Compensation
  • HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $54.75;
    Hourly rate set by CBA.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Inspects, repairs and certifies GSA containers and vaults

  • Inspects and repairs high security locks such as: LKM
    7000, KABA Mas X-09/X-10

  • Disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.

  • Inserts new or repaired tumblers into lock to change the combination.

  • Cuts new or duplicate keys.

  • Moves lock‑pick in cylinders to open door locks without keys.

  • Opens safe locks by drilling.

  • Keeps records of locks and keys.

  • Complete projects from initial layout to final assembly or installation to include basic structural framework.

  • Repairs door screens; replaces or repairs window locks and operators.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Must possess GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician and Inspector Certification.

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED), three (3) or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the locksmith field.

  • Must maintain a valid state driver license and be qualified to operate government general-purpose vehicles.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction, and decimals.

  • Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must maintain a Master Locksmith-State required license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently required to walk use hands to finger, handle, or feel reach with hands and arms: talk or hear and taste or smell.

Requires climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms: standing, bending, and working in cramped areas: lifting and carrying tools and equipment which occasionally may weigh over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
