JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa

Role: The Security Sergeant (Shift Leader) plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the safety, security, and well‑being of all guests, team members, and assets of the resort. This position supervises and directs daily shift operations with the Security Department, maintaining a high level of professionalism and service consistent with the resort’s standards of excellence. The Security Sergeant serves as the primary point of contact for security personnel during assigned shifts, ensuring that all activities comply with resort policies, Nevada Gaming Control Board regulations, and applicable state and local laws, Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures, while fostering teamwork and providing excellent guest service that exceeds expectations.

Skills / Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or certification in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or Hospitality Security preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience required.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or shift leadership experience required.
  • Strong leadership, decision‑making, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Nevada gaming and hospitality regulations.
  • Proficiency in report writing and standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to handle high‑pressure situations with professionalism and sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a fast‑paced, guest‑oriented environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods throughout the property.
  • Available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Required Certificate / License
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Current CPR/AED Certification.
  • Current Alcohol Awareness Training Card (TAM).

Job Duties
  • Supervisor and coordinate the activities of Security Officers throughout the property, including casino areas, hotel towers, parking facilities, and back‑of‑house operations.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating composure, professionalism, and commitment to guest service under all circumstances.
  • Conduct detailed patrols to maintain a visible and proactive security presence, deterring theft, vandalism, and other disturbances.
  • Respond immediately to emergencies, medical incidents, disturbances, and guest or employee issues: take command until relieved by senior leadership or law enforcement.
  • Prepare accurate and thorough written reports for all incidents, accidents, and investigations.
  • Enforce compliance with all gaming safety and company policies, maintaining awareness of operational procedures specific to the resort.
  • Collaborate closely with Surveillance, Risk Management, Hotel Operations, and local public safety agencies to ensure coordinated response and documentation.
  • Conduct pre‑shift briefings, ensuring clear communication of assignments, policy updates, and relevant operational information.
  • Mentor, train, and evaluate team members to promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and guest‑centered service.
  • Oversee key control procedures, lost and found processing, and access management for restricted areas.
  • Serve as an on‑site representative of the Security Management Team, ensuring consistency across all shifts.
