The primary role of the Veterinary Technician is to provide excellent care to patients at the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care hospital of Las Vegas and assist the veterinarian with all duties.
Responsibilities- Perform all essential duties of a Veterinary Technician
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and activity
- Provide support to all veterinarians, often assisting more than one on your shift
- Provide diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients
- Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
- Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing (e.g., blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling, free catch urine)
- Perform laboratory procedures including blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing
- Radiograph: accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while following radiation safety protocols
- Properly use and maintain medical equipment
- Provide professional client communication
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; protect client and patient confidentiality
- Meet or exceed performance standards for work quality and productivity
- Adhere to attendance and punctuality expectations
- Act as an ambassador of VECC with professionalism, courtesy, and compassion
- Licensed Veterinary Technician with ER hospital experience or 2+ years general practice LVT experience
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and build long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community
- Reliable, organized, and committed to providing high-level care
- Strong desire for lifelong learning and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to deliver exceptional client service
- Honesty, integrity, and a positive, team-focused attitude
Schedule: Overnights. Weekend shifts, plus Monday through Thursday with rotating weekends. Open to full- or part-time.
Salary: $29.00 to $34.00/hr, based on experience (this pay range includes the overnight differential).
