Position Summary:Assess, diagnose, and treat Neuro-Interventional radiology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include obtaining patient health histories, reviewing symptoms, asking situation-specific questions to formulate accurate diagnoses, developing appropriate treatment plans, prescribing laboratory tests and medications, and providing patient and family education. Incumbents work independently under the general supervision of a physician, pursuant to state law.
Education/Experience:
Masters of Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and at least two (2) years of relevant clinical nurse practitioner experience in interventional radiology.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:Valid Nevada RN license, Nevada Advanced Practice Nurse license, Nevada Pharmacy Board license to prescribe medications, DEA Controlled Substance Registration, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is also required.
Knowledge of:Anatomy and physiology; chemistry; microbiology; age-appropriate growth and development; neurology, interventional radiology, neurosurgery; pathophysiology and disease processes; current medical and healthcare standards; scope of practice limitations; diagnostic tools; pharmacology; safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control; hazardous materials handling; emergency response protocols; and age-specific patient care practices.
Skill in:Diagnosing patient conditions; interpreting examination and diagnostic test findings; performing physical examinations; taking medical histories; documenting in patient charts; effective oral communication; engaging with diverse patient populations; utilizing diagnostic tools; and establishing effective working relationships.
Physical Requirements andWorking Conditions:
Mobility for clinical work and equipment use; stamina for extended standing and walking; visual acuity for reading instruments and screens; effective hearing and speech for communication; strength to exert force up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.
