As a Registered Nurse
, you will play a critical role in delivering quality care while protecting the rights, dignity, and health of the patient population. Duties may include and are not limited to:
- Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
- Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
- Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
- Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
- Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate facilities.
- Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
- Adhering to correctional facility security protocols and collaborating with correctional officers and healthcare staff to ensure safety.
- Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting relevant information.
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications
- Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in NV.
- Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
- Knowledge of nursing principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws and procedures for direct patient care.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; flexible schedule with overtime if needed.
- Integrity and professionalism; adhere to Code of Conduct and facility policies and legal requirements.
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk long distances, and perform CPR and other physically demanding tasks.
