The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Convenience Care provides specialized clinical expertise in performing physical exams, collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering laboratory studies and consultations, prescribing medications, and delivering direct patient care in accordance with evidence‑based standards. The NP enhances patient care quality through leadership, research, teaching, and consulting within the organization and the advanced practice profession.

Essential Duties
  • Perform or order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret results.
  • Develop and implement long‑ and short‑range treatment plans.
  • Perform procedures such as specimen collection, injections, immunizations, skin biopsies, suturing, wound care, and management of trauma or infection.
  • Write orders for medication changes subject to physician checking and counter‑signing.
  • Initiate consultations and manage patient scheduling for special tests.
  • Identify and update patient records, summarize charts, modify orders, and notify the responsible physician of changes in patient condition.
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventive care, medical and psychological problems, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
  • Act as liaison with governmental agencies (CDC, NIH) and assist with medical research projects, obtaining Investigational Review Board approval for treatment protocols.
  • Research community resources for patient referral and refer patients to appropriate resources based on medical needs and condition.
  • Maintain compliance with university and department policies, quality assurance, safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in in‑service education programs and professional associations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school.
  • Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions with ability to perform duties successfully.

Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license, Nevada State Board of Nursing (NV NSBN).
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) credential, NV NSBN.
  • Board certification in NP specialization: ACNP, ANP, FNP, or AGNP.
  • DEA Certificate for Schedule II‑V controlled substances; unrestricted DEA Certificate with Nevada address.
  • Valid Nevada Board of Pharmacy license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) credential from American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Radiology Life Support (ARLS), required upon hire or within 30 days.
  • USC Credentialing, obtained within 6 months of hire.
