Provides care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. These patients are facing life‑threatening problems with varying needs, which require extensive medication protocols and therapies. Provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
Job Requirements- Education/
Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one (1) year current critical care experience. - Licensing/Certification:
Current License by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse. BLS and ACLS at hire, TNCC and ABLS within 12 months of hire.
Position Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent (within last 3 years), documented ICU RN experience in a similar facility.
Physical Requirements
- Knowledge:
Nursing process, anatomy and physiology, standards of care, disease processes, medical equipment, patient care plan development, assessment techniques, body mechanics for ambulating/transferring, general office equipment, pharmacology and medication administration, Nurse Practice Act, safety practices, patient rights, infection control policies, hazardous material handling, emergency response procedures. - Skills:
Implementing nursing process, working with high‑risk or critically ill patients, performing invasive procedures, using computers and related software, communicating with diverse populations, establishing effective relationships with personnel, efficient and safe use of equipment. - Physical Requirements:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, stamina to remain standing or walking for extended periods, strength to examine and treat varied patients, vision to read printed materials and VDT screen, hearing and speech to communicate effectively. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
