Position Summary

The Quality Control Technician (QC Tech) is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet company, customer, USDA/FDA, and food safety standards. This role requires accurate testing, documentation, and reporting to support compliance with GMP, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily quality checks on raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products.
  • Monitor production lines to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company SOPs.
  • Conduct environmental swabbing, allergen testing, and microbiological sampling.
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain QC lab equipment (e.g., scales, pH meters, thermometers).
  • Verify product labeling, packaging, and coding compliance.
  • Record accurate and timely data in logs, forms, and digital systems.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) when deviations occur.
  • Support internal and external audits, USDA/FDA inspections, and third-party certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality and food safety concerns.
  • Promote and maintain a food safety culture across the facility.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of QC/QA experience in food manufacturing preferred (but entry-level candidates with training will be considered).
  • Basic knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English (bilingual Spanish preferred).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and/or QA data entry systems.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime, as needed.
