Job Description:
- Plans, directs and controls the organization's overall financial plans and policies, accounting practices.
- Oversees development of annual budget and preparation of 10-year business plan
- Links business strategy with financial planning.
- Manages the relationships with lending institutions and the financial community.
- Provides expert witness testimony in general rate cases or other regulatory proceedings.
- Liaises with company's businesses and corporate functions to support performance management and advises best practice and process methodology.
- Oversees the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
- Oversees completion of federal and state tax returns and file and remit state and local governments all tax reports (income, property, sales, excise, etc.).
- Oversees the preparation of financial statements, internal and external financial reports, special analyses, and information reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SEC, FERC or other accounting and reporting requirements.
- Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the Finance Organization.
- Directs the provision of full performance reporting services to executives.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate internal control safeguards.
- Interacts with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
- Represents the company on various internal boards including company board of directors.
- Manages, mentors and evaluates employees.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Regulated utility business acumen
- Company strategic plan, regulatory and political environment
- Company policies, procedures and practices, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Establishing objectives, developing and executing policies
- Directing and monitoring resources; recommending and overseeing development and implementation of systems, programs, or processes
- Deliver quality results at pace, manage parallel processes, and consistently meet tight deadlines
- Motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects
- Participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Analytical, interpersonal and communication.
