Tax Senior Manager, Private Client Services

Job SummaryOur boutique Private Client Services practice serves high‑net‑worth individuals, families, family offices, C‑Suite executives, athletes, entertainers and others with complex tax and financial structures. The practice specializes in estate, income, gift and trust tax, charitable giving, executive compensation and comprehensive planning. The Tax Senior Manager provides tax compliance and consulting services, leads engagements, and drives business development with a high‑touch, client‑centric approach.
Job Duties- Manages tax and consulting engagements and identifies client needs, planning and consulting opportunities.
- Acts as the primary client contact, presenting issues and resolutions with executive presence.
- Reviews complex returns (individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, gift) and provides written and verbal feedback to preparers.
- Communicates with government agencies on matters of highest complexity.
- Performs advanced tax research, identifies technical issues and develops recommendations for client and leadership.
- Expands tax knowledge through client work and current developments.
- Prioritizes and reviews work to keep engagements on track.
- Applies analytical, research and decision‑making skills to client needs.
- Supports PCS/firm responsibilities including billing, recruiting, CPE participation and training.
- Builds new relationships and maintains existing ones with BDO professionals and external partners.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervises associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Reviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provides feedback.
- Trains associates and seniors on current software tools.
- Provides career advice to associates and senior associates.
- Schedules and manages workload of associates and senior associates.
- Provides verbal and written performance feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in accounting, finance or law required.
- Experience in the private client service area required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Experience working in public accounting preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant, Volunteer Enrolled Agent, attorney or equivalent credential required.
- Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with tax compliance process software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, Go File Room , Sure Prep) preferred.
- Experience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH Intelli Connect, Checkpoint, Lexis Nexis) preferred.
