The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Locksmith 1, Facilities Management

ROLE of the POSITION

Locksmiths maintain the master key system for a major facility and install and maintain locking devices and systems.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. A Locksmith 1 will be responsible for the maintenance of the entire master key system for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campuses and the installation and maintenance of locking devices and systems including boring cylinder, tumbler, electronic magnetic and push-button combination locks, panic exit devices.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

It is important for the incumbent to prepare and maintain detailed documentation of work completed, associated files and vendor information for the assigned work area in order to provide a tracking system for completed maintenance and installation; establish and update records and schematics pertaining to equipment installed and maintained; perform software and configuration changes and updates.

The schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm and is subject to change dependent upon departmental and University needs.

Must have working knowledge of:
State and agency policies and procedures pertaining to work unit operations, personnel, and purchasing;
State and local building codes, NFPA 70, NAC 477, NRS
477, and O.S.H.A. requirements. Ability to establish and maintain records and files and prepare reports pertaining to operations, materials, and supplies.

A current Class C Driver's License is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a recognized locksmith apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Specific knowledge in Small Format Interchangeable Cores SFIC cores.

SALARY

Grade 30, Step 1, salary $54,267.12.

In accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 284.170, initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade. A "Step" refers to the specific rate of pay within a grade, as determined by the Division of Human Resources.
